Indianapolis BOA Grand Nationals
I know many freshman band and color guard parents are just starting to
get emails and are confused (as I was when my son was a freshman) so I hope
the following information helps.
Bands
of America ("BOA") Grand Nationals in Indianapolis are scheduled for November 11th to
the 14th.
All the Band and Color Guard students go to this competition.
The reservations for all the students have been made and the cost for the
student will be included in the band fees. A payment schedule and the amount
to be paid when will be included in the band handbook that will be handed
out at marching practice the week of August 3rd. Please return ASAP.
The students are scheduled to fly out Wednesday, November 11 in the early
evening and will return on Sunday, November 15th, on flights leaving
Indianapolis around Noon. The students will be flying on 2 Continental
Charter flights that have already been booked for them.
The students will be staying at the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown and
their rooms are already booked.
As parents, all you need to do is decide if you will be attending and
make your reservations for you and your family. We are taking care of the
students and they must travel with the band and color guard.
I am trying to watch the flights and costs so we can find the cheap
flights and as many families as can will be there to cheer on the kids. YOU
DO NOT NEED TO SCHEDULE ANYTHING FOR THE STUDENTS-- Mr. Johnson has this
covered.
Performance schedule will most likely have the students competing early
Friday, with prelims and finals on Sat.
The following is where parents can go and see if they can find hotels at
the BOA rate. This is a big competition so hotels do book up. That is why we
are getting the information out to parents as soon as possible so they can
make their plans if they plan to attend the competition. You are able to go
straight to hotel properties and book but the BOA has better rates if they
are still available.

I hope this helps and please feel free to email me with further
questions. Please forward to this on to any incoming band and guard members
that you know that will be here next year. We will not be able to compile
all current emails until that form that goes home with the band/guard member
on Monday, August 3rd. Please ask you child for it and fill it our as soon
as possible and turn it back in so that we can get our records updated.
