UIL Contests
Congratulations to all three bands for their amazing UIL contest
performances, and for continuing the tradition of earning all "1"
ratings in performance and sight reading. The bands have truly never
sounded better!
The Band Boosters Needs Your Help at the Pavilion!
We need volunteers to work at our concessions stand at the Cynthia Woods
Mitchell Pavilion - No experience required! The 2009 concert season
kicks off with the Dave Matthews band on May 1 and runs through
November. Work at as many or as few concerts as you like. It's a great
way to meet other band and choir parents while earning tax-free funds
which directly cover your child's 2009-10 band fees. And yes, you'll
get to hear some great live performances while you work!

Announcing the Third Annual TWHS Chamber Music Festival
Our 3rd Annual TWHS Chamber Music Festival will be held during the week
of April 20-23 at TWHS which is the Prelims round of the competition.
All band members are expected to participate in the festival on a solo
or ensemble.
Parents, you can help in the preparation for this event by helping to
make sure your child has ordered his or her music, ESPECIALLY THEIR
PIANO PART!!! Also, if you or your child have already made arrangements
with an accompanist please let Mrs. Perez know ASAP.
Please ask your student if they have their solo and piano part. Have
them turn it in to Mrs. Perez with their name and phone number on the
top of the music. She will be asking the students for their music
starting this week! Thank you so much for your help with this. Please
make plans to attend this great event!!!

finals with their morning performance in prelims, then pushing the
"pedal to the metal" during evening finals to advance to State!

Pavilion Concessions Update
Regrettably but necessarily, the Pavilion cancelled all remaining events for the 2008 season
due to damage from hurricane Ike. Thus, our
concessions fundraising
program ended about two months early this year. Thanks to all concessionaire
volunteers who served during this abbreviated season! Consider volunteering often in
Spring 2009 to make up for the lost events and to fund your student's account for the 2009 Grand Nationals trip to Indy.
Music for All (Bands of America): Aftermath of Hurricane Ike
September 18 - All of us at Music for All and the entire Music for All family have our friends and colleagues and the affected communities on
the Gulf Coast and the Nation's heartland in our thoughts and prayers. None of us yet know the full and lasting impact of Hurricane
Ike and the destruction it brought, however we are committed to helping support and restore the wellbeing and activities of our
friends as soon as possible. We have received numerous calls and emails concerning the impact on our Bands of America Texas,
Kentucky and Ohio Regional events. As of today, we expect to operate ALL of our scheduled fall events, including our September 20
Centerville (OH) and October 11 Houston Regionals.
